Jan is a certified AMI (Association Montessori Internationale) educator with decades of experience teaching and feeding children. She has published numerous articles and books on nutrition with a focus on preconceptional health, brain and child development, and foods that support attention and learning.
Jan is a member of The McCarrison Society, a group of nutritional scientists, MDs, and health professionals dedicated to sharing their nutritional research and experience as it defines nutrition's vital role in creating and maintaining human life.
Jan is on the advisory committee of The Montessori Education for Autism Foundation (UK) and the advisory panel of The Mother and Child Foundation.
Jan is working with e'Pap, an instant-food manufacturer in South Africa as counsel to reformulate their vitamin and mineral fortified porridge. The people's Bishop of Kenya is currently working on a project utilizing Jan's book, Nutrition for Learning as an adjunct to feeding programs throughout Kenya, East Africa.
Jan loves hiking, playing and composing music on the piano, and searching out and promoting local farmer's markets and restaurants serving pasture fed animals, wild fish, and organic fare from local purveyors. She also loves nutritional education and lecturing to groups because it gives her an opportunity to talk about her favorite subject - Food!
Jan is the nutritionist at Jordan Developmental Pediatrics in Phoenix, Arizona helping families reclaim their kitchens by inviting children to don aprons, roll up their sleeves, and learn how to chop, measure, pour, and stir while preparing home-made fresh food.
